Peekaboo Turtles

These cute little turtles were made as gifts. I based the inside shell colours on the colours of the Ninja Turtles, however as I only made three Raphael missed out here which is a bit of a shame as he is my favourite Ninja Turtle. These turtles have removable shells and black safety eyes that give these guys a lot of character, so strange to see them without their shells...

The pattern for these turtles comes from a book called Flip Dolls and Other Toys that Zip, Stack, Hide, Grab, and Go by Laura Wilson. The pattern was simple enough but it can be a little fiddly sewing around the head pieces, but as I hand sew everything it wasn't to bad. I found this book at the library but if your interested you can find more information about this book and Laura's other patters on her blog We Wilsons.

Harry Potter Wand Wallpapers set1 - The Golden Trio

I am a big Harry Potter fan. I read all the books as they came out and have seen all the movies and love both versions of the story. I've got a few Harry Potter themed crafts I want to complete but in the mean time I created some wallpapers I thought I would share.

These are the first of a few I plan to post, I want to do wand wallpapers for most characters but If there is a particular character you want done just let me know. The other thing is these wallpapers are size 1366x768, which is the size of my own computer, but if other sizes are wanted I will make those too, as I said just let me know.

These first wallpapers are of Harry Potter, Ronald 'Ron' Weasley and Hermione Granger. To download click on the picture of the wallpaper you want and "Save Image As" to save to your computer or alternatively you can select "Set As Desktop Background". Please let me know if your having any problems with these. Hope you enjoy.

View all the wallpapers in the Harry Potter Wand Wallpaper Collection HERE.

Art on Canvas Board - Faery

I am a massive fan of Brian Froud. I just love his art work, especially the faeries he brings to life in his sketches and drawings. I own most of his books including Faeries and Trolls, as well as the Lady Cottington books. His work is so beautiful and magical you feel as though his subjects could come to life at any moment.

Inspired by Brian Froud's beautiful faeries I decided to use a canvas board I had lying about to recreate one of my favourite faery subjects of his. I used a pencil to first sketch out this faery before filling in and creating her details with acrylic paints. I'm quite happy with how this turned out, so bright and beautiful.

Disney Princess 3D Paper Doll #1 Ariel

The Little Mermaid is probably my favourite Disney Princesses, her story is so romantic. I still have the book Undine by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué, the original story this was based on, which is much sadder and without the happily ever after that is a standard with Disney but which is still a beautiful story regardless.

This Little Mermaid paper craft was a little fiddly but I think that was because I printed her out at about half the size as the original intended. I intend to make every princess to have a complete set, but in the meantime of you want to make an Ariel for yourself you can find all you need HERE at the Disney website FREE.

Faery Rag Doll #1

This is my faery rag doll. She is just beautiful with her fluttery wings, big ears and wide eyes. I just love her. I made this particular doll for a special little girl and because I loved how this faery doll turned out I made more.

So far this is my favourite doll I have made, that's why I've named this post as #1 as I plan to post many more of these faery dolls. Totally hand-sewn, including the wings and ear details, this beautiful faery can be tricky at times to put together but as always the end result is well worth the effort.
