Stranger Things Key Chain + Necklace + Hairband

This is a unique set I created for a Stranger Things fan. The supernatural/science fiction series about a girl with strange abilities, alternate dimensions and a group of friends solving the mystery of their friends disappearance, this show seems to have everything. So for such a strange and quirky show I had to come up with some equally strange and quirky items.

There are a few iconic items from the series that I decided to use when making these items. The first was the Eggos waffles that the main character Eleven develops and obsession for. This Eggo waffle key ring measures about 8cm by 8cm not including the yellow cord that I made myself and attached to the Eggo using a jump ring and finished with a lobster clasp.

This statement necklace also includes mini Eggos that are attached along either side to Christmas lights and has a central piece representing the monster. The central piece is a reference to the monsters open mouth. The three ironed pieces were connected together using jump rings, then attached to a chain of silk green cord with cord ends, smaller jump rings and a lobster clasp.

For this last item I made a headband with the monsters open mouth attached to it. To those who wouldn't understand the reference this would look just like an oversized flower headband. The monster, or Demogorgon as it is named by the younger characters, measures about 11cm wide by about 9cm high. Altogether this makes a distinctive and unusual gift set.

Baby Niffler - Persimmon

With all the magical creatures running about my house it was only a matter of time before a baby niffler or two appeared. This little baby is Persimmon, he is easily identified by his dark grey coat and blue eyes. I expect there are more baby nifflers to be found but so far Persimmon is the only one to make himself known, or to get caught. It wasn't hard to figure out that a niffler must be on the loose with all my shiny things and Gringotts coins going missing.

This baby niffler was made from a simple pattern I found that I very heavily altered. The base pattern I used had a basic body shape that I changed along the top to give distinction between the head and round body. I then added a gusset to give a rounder look to the head from front on. A tail was also added along with little hands and feet. But the face and snout was the trickiest part to create a pattern for and sew together.

It wouldn't be a niffler without a bottomless pouch, so that was another piece I designed and added to this pattern. Once I had a pattern drawn up that I believed was what I wanted I hand sewed up the pieces using, as always, recycled materials I had on hand. Blue safety eyes were used for baby Persimmon, along with the addition of magnets to the nifflers hands that would allow this little creature to hold onto anything magnetic.

As it turned out the magnets in Persimmon's hands also allow him to cling to the refrigerator. The hands, feet, snout, head and tail were filled with stuffing to define these parts in particular, I then filled the rest of the baby nifflers body with plastic pellets to give him a little more weight and flexibility.

This adorable baby niffler Persimmon measures about 16 cm from snout to tail and about 8 cm from hand to hand when lying flat. As this was essentially a prototype, made however with finished materials, I am so very pleased at the way this baby niffler turned out and can not wait to create more of these cute little magical creatures.

Disney Princess Art Doll - Esmeralda

Once upon a time Esmeralda was numbered among the Disney Princess, however for a long time now she has been absent as the inclusion of newer Princesses has seen her disappear form the official line-up. Despite this I decided to make an Esmeralda doll from the Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre-Dame as I admire her free-spirit and wavy black hair.

This fully hand-sewn Esmeralda doll stands at about 10 inches tall and features a teal green top, purple skirt and a pink ribbon in her hair. For the hair black yarn was used to create her waves, gold jump ring were sewn on to mimic her golden hoop earrings and a golden chain was sewn on to represent the gold accent on her sarong. Black acrylic paint was used for the eyes and lastly a printed tag was attached with a ribbon.

Harry Potter Wand Bookmarks set3 - Students of Note

Another three Harry Potter wizarding wand bookmarks made from iron beads, such as perler, hama or pyssla. These three wands are for the characters of Neville Longbottom, the beheader of Nagini, Luna Lovegood, the believer of Nargles, and Fleur Delacour, whom I included just because I loved her wand. Each wand bookmark is 20cm long and between 1.5 to 2.5 cm wide.

If anyone is interested I have provided the pattern for each bookmark below so you can make them yourself. Feel free to change the colours or shapes as you see fit. Each pattern is also a desktop wallpaper, similar to my Harry Potter Wand Wallpaper Collection seen HERE. These wallpapers are sized 1366x768 so you can either "Save Image As" to save to your computer or alternatively you can select "Set As Desktop Background".
